This writing omits a symbol. Most writing contains it in almost any word. This writing contains it in no word. You cannot find it. That is not a fault; it is a form. This writing has no occasion of it at all.

This form has a history. Gadsby, a 1939 book from California, runs 50,000+ words without that symbol. La Disparition, a 1969 book from Paris, omits it throughout. A Void, its translation, omits it too, and starts with a missing man: “Anton Vowl is missing.”
